Should he be paid tops in the conference for his results?

I just never heard of saying “you not worth $500,000, but we would keep your poor performance at $250,000.” I have heard of rising to your level of incompetence, but never allowing you to ascend back to the level of competence. Maybe it’s just me.

Gladney was off the roster the day final grades came out after the spring semester. You can figure out what happened from that circumstance. Another guy who left without it being the complete decision of the people in the basketball program.

Recruiting is something that never ends unless a staff knows they are moving on.
I just saw that we have offered a player named Terrence Lewis from New Mexico Junior College. This is proof that as of now they are still actively recruiting for the class of 2020 even though we are full and if someone is signed someone else would have to move on.
Here is some info on Lewis, JUCO recruiting.com has him rated as the #32 JUCO in the country. According to verbal commits he now has 17 D1 offers.

I'm not a fan of praising coaches when their athletes do well academically, but since the department is prone to do so, shouldn't academic shortcomings be viewed in the opposite light?

And you trust that Marlin can actually kick 3-4 guys off again and get talent in their spots? He’s been doing this for back to back years and they actually get worse.

And are there any young hungry coaches out there on the radar that would be in consideration for a hc job?
Huh?? There are young coaching prospects all over the place. This is basketball where there are coaching prospects all over the country. I never heard of Billy Napier and he turned out to be a gem. If you can go out and identify a young good coach for a program like ours that is not nationally known, you can find a good young basketball coach.

As of now there would be 4 seniors on next years team so a solid recruiting class would be needed. There is one commit from the class of 21 as of now in Joe Charles from Carencro. Of course speculation about 2 years from now is well.... a lot of speculation, many things could change in the meantime.
We are always looking forward and hoping we will have a good year next year or a couple of years down the road because the current year always tends to be a wash. Take it how you will. We are constantly looking to the future because the present is forgettable.

How do Mike and others keep coming up with $1 million for the buyout? It would be $475,000 if we moved on in April of this year.

Does his buyout pay him off, or does the university owe his salary the rest of his contract plus the buyout?
