A sanity hearing is scheduled Thursday for a 50-year-old woman accused of running over her 11-year-old son several times on a country road near Grand Coteau last year.
Sandra Joseph is charged with first-degree murder of Samuel Udomeh, who died on Mardi Gras 2009 - Feb. 21.
She had been put on forced leave a month earlier from her job at the Lafayette office of Louisiana Rehabilitation Services for what her employer described as manic and paranoid behavior. Jury selection had been scheduled late last year, but was delayed when attorney Ed Lopez asked the judge to rule on whether she was competent to help with her defense.
