Thread: 2020 Wide Recievers

  1. Default 2020 Wide Recievers

Man we lose to good ones in Bam Jackson and Jamarcus Bradley, but I am excited about what we have next year in our WR core.

Calif Gossett showed last night how valuable he can be, I think he needs to get in the weight room during the offseason, but man he can be good. 6'6" 188

Jalen Williams, I was high on this guy last year and he disappointed, then I was high on him this year and he was slow out of the gates, but he ended up with 21 catches for 279 yards and a TD this year, that is 16 more catches then he had last year. 6'3 219

Jamal Bell, I really like him, he needs to get healthy as I don't think he was healthy all season, but he finished with 34 catches for 445 yards and a TD. 6'0" 193

Peter Leblanc, really nice freshman campaign and he is only going to get better. I think he can be special. Finished with 28 catches 344 yards and 4TD's. 6'2 185.

Neal Johnson and Johnny Lumpkin at the TE position are going to be good, Lumpkin is a huge body at 6'6" 262 and Johnson is super athletic and only going to get better at 6'4" 238.

These are just the guys that played a good bit this season, with the exception of Lumpkin. But we have not seen the play of Jacob Bernard, Brandon Legendre , Cassius Allen and Brian Smith Jr. or the incoming 2019 class.

Somebody is going to have to take over like Bradley did. We are losing a guy with 60 catches 906 yards and 10 TD's as well as a guy with 25 catches 405 yards.

Keep an eye out for Kyren Lacy. I think he’s gonna be a contributor before the seasons end.

    As always, very insightful post.

I agree with your post, but also believe that next year's WR corps will probably be deeper than this seasons. Our coaches continue to DEVELOP players in a way that is amazing to me. You have those guys you mentioned, along with Lacy & Flemming coming in that I think could impact as well.

We were very lucky this season to have a returning talent like Bradley, which we don't have going into the 2020 season. But we do have a more experienced and confidant QB in Lewis, which will help our passing game. Next season can't get here quickly enough now.

I also believe Kyren Lacy contributes from the start, waiting for Jalen Williams to become more than just average, and I believe Gossett could be special

I thought Brian Smith jr would play more this year.
He seems to catch all that is Thrown his way.
Has good size and impressed me in last years Spring game

Don't forget Peter LeBlanc. He only had a couple targets in the bowl game, but he made some big plays down the stretch. Think he has a breakout season next year.

I was going to ask the same thing. What position will he play?

You guys did read my original posts. Where I included Peter Leblanc, Brandon Legendre and Brian Smith Jr, right?

It was a great post, but just a mention of Brandon. I think he was our highest rated recruit in that class. Really want to hear more about where he will be used!
