How? You couldn't even see the ball in that angle until after it came out. You have no way to see if it came loose before he was down.

Agree, but it looked like the ball was sitting on the running back's extended bicep. The ball had obviously already been jarred loose.

Maybe it was a fumble but I didn't find the replay was definitive which is the key here. Usually they won't overturn unless it is clearly obvious which they even miss sometimes. They also called their runner down at the 1 when his knee clearly didn't touch the ground.
