I don't understand why we would give that kind of money to the BB coach, but not to football, baseball and softball?

Our current baseball and softball staff have taken us to the final 8 teams. They DESERVE to be paid on an equal level with our current football and BB heads.

I say we pay them all an equal amount and give them HUGE incentives to bring us conference championships, bowl games, regional championships, and hopefully someday a national title.

If I were him, I'd be worried less about what the new basketball coach is making and put up some W's such that, at the end of the season, he can credilbly walk into the AD's office and say if you are giving the new BBall coach, $X, you better be giving me $X++.

Jessie Evans was making more than Bustle too. UL is a basketball school and will always be a basketball school. The reason Robert Lee was paid as low as he was, was because we were stuck with no coach and he accepted a low salary.

I have always looked at football and basketball coaches this way.
Say we offer new coaches 300K. What are the chances the programs get better with a new coach.
Basketball - 95%
Football - 50%

Bustle is not terrible. I think it would take a special coach to get us to 7-8 wins consistently.

Rickey should look at this as even more incentive to get that 7th win. 1 more win and the cajuns go bowling and likely, bustle will get a hefty pay raise.

300k for a coach at UL is great, as long as he can win, You said Jessie Evans made more than Bustle, he should have, he put UL in the NCAA tourney, and left Robert a full cover, a NCAA tourney team, and no one seems to respect that, and that was the last time we danced. Then we say Robert did this and that but Jessie didnt do this, and that, but remember Robert was on his staff for 6 years, what the hell did he do or learn from Jessie. Nothing, he didnt win, he didnt prepare his teams to win, come on....Jessie has my vote, and we need someone just like him to come back and coach us to NCAA tourneys, and win the Sun Belt. If he is or was availabe I would consider hiring him again, just to get it done, and maybe hire him as a consultant or something. Bring back Jessie....
