Even if another coach accepts, they are still gonna say it’s a setup for Napier. He’ll finally reveal himself by running out with the team for their first game. Some real deep state stuff going on here.
Not that I don’t think BN is great but why would the cowbells throw 3+ million at a coach who has won 10 games once and still doesn’t have that signature win yet? I wish we could pay him 3 million, don’t get me wrong he has done unprecedented things in his short time here.
Side note...Their fans are awful. I remember when they came for the baseball regional years ago and they were better than everyone else, then had to go home with their tail between their legs while chanting “SEC SEC” And who could forget that sports reporter who wrote that article after the series was over....I think we got the kid fired lol
Maybe because that isn't the criteria used to evaluate a coach??
Obviously you want a coach that shows he can win and Napier has done that. It isn't about the signature win its about what you do with what you've got and how you compare to your peers. In two short years Billy has done exceptionally well against his peers in the SBC.
Now none of that would matter if it weren't for his lineage. Direct links to Swinney and Saban (who wanted him back) are a huge factor.
Actually that would be a pretty solid criteria for choosing a coach. A coach coming through the ranks who has shown he can beat superior competition and win championships? That is a common trait you see in many HC hires who are considered up and comers. Plus, he's only done it for 2 years. It took Scott Satterfield 6 years of consistent winning. He's just an example of course.
