Regardless you don't make a bad hire because of time, you live with the interim and get a great candidate. This guy was simply checking boxes to be qualified on paper. I found nothing seperating him from dozens of others. Maybe Jay can show us all the innovative things he did while checking those boxes.
You're right - no excuse for a bad hire. Who made the hire? Is it a board of directors, or university presidents, or some other? Sounds like either not many outstanding candidates, or not a very thorough review/interview process.

Purely a guess, but I’d say that the SBC hired a consulting firm with a list of things accomplished. The presidents probably selected a from about a half dozen.

.....Thinking the same way.....like talking to recruits and mentioning the NO Bowl as a reward for our fans for a good time ....the team for them to play in Louisiana.......our ANNUAL !4th game of the year if we don’t go to a top bowl!

The opponent keeps changing so that in itself mutes any complaining of location. Which to be truthful, there is none better.

Who will own the NOLA Bowl going forward? How will that be reconciled with espn having more control of bowl invites?

The answers to those questions will clear up a lot of things. Whatever happens, our champion should always play a G5 champion or P5.
