Thread: Men's Basketball

  1. UL Basketball Men's Basketball

I'm not much of a basketball guy, but I think there's an issue. We're asked to expect the highest of results in football, baseball, and softball. However, basketball is regarded as work-in-progress for three straight years...

Why can fans expect more from some sports, but not basketball?

At this point, it is kind of like impeachment - just another thread with no resultant ending.

I genuinely want to know why it's held to a different standard.

Take a look and Marlin's staff and read their biographies. Not one of those guys can walk into a Louisiana high school gym without an introduction.

All of those guys have either played for him or worked with him for a very long time. None of the coaches had prior P5 experience.

We need at least one assistant that Marlin respects and he's secure enough can push back on Marlin. Most of all we need a guy on staff who has deep AAU connections and can flat out recruit. Similar to what Rebowe and Leger are to football. Those guys can walk into any high school in Louisiana with little notice or introduction.

Its because we cant afford to buy any good home games. Isnt that the normal excuse?

At this point I'm a little glad we can't buy any good home games. I would hate to think we would pay for a good team to come stomp us on our home court in front of 2500 people.

I’ve long supported Marlin. And I still really like him as a person. But it’s time for Maggard to put his stamp on the basketball program and make a change after the year. Basketball was my favorite UL sport in college and at this point, today, my interest is near zero.

Completely agree. I went to nearly every home game during my college days, a bunch at Blackham as a kid, and was a season ticket holder for a number of years after graduation.

It’s to a point now that I wasn’t even aware we had a game last night...and wasn’t the least bit upset that I missed it.

Hopefully something changes soon. My entire group of friends, the ones that used to be there with me, are all as apathetic as I am these days.

    Same sentiments.
