    Default retired jerseys (football)

    https://ragincajuns.com/news/2014/11...119144623.aspx

of the 8 listed, three are currently being used. 1,9 and 28

do we use retired numbers or are these special circumstances?

.....I hate/love the retired jersey concept......love the credit it gives the deserving players and hate the concept of the numbers not being used......Think a compromise of the 2 could work by distinguishing the jersey worn and the player who wore it and the # not actually being worn again!

I've never understood the Damon Mason thing. He was an excellent player but not in the class with the other retirees. JMO

    I dislike retiring jerseys.

I thought of Brian Mitchell more during this season than I had the previous 25 combined.

Not because of play, just because I saw his number.

........The best of all with Brian is that he didn’t want anybody to wear it....but when LL called and talked to him and told him he would make him proud to have worn it, that did the trick....think he played this year in a very good way!

Retired jerseys, according to the university policy, must be held out for a minimum of ten years, at which time they can go back in circulation. That's why they don't call them retired numbers, rather, retired jerseys.

Levi wears #1 with permission from Brian Mitchell.
