Miami University has struggled with the name issue just like we have. I would hope everyone here would call them by their proper name. Below is from their media guide.

PLEASE NOTE: When referring to Miami, please use either Miami, Miami University or Miami (Ohio). Please do not use Miami of Ohio or University of Miami, etc. The latter are not the proper names for our institution. Thank you.

They have shirts made that say "We were a university before Florida was a state".

Miami University founded in 1809
Florida became a state in 1845
The City of Miami was incorporated in 1896
Coral Gables, where the University of Miami is located, incorporated in 1925
University of Miami founded in 1925

I'm going to wait and get 50 yardline tickets for $10 after Christmas when there is a grand total of 1,500 tickets sold

Well, we have zero control over that so it's a moot point.. im gonna have a good time in mobile. Were in a bowl and not gonna cry over something that only God can change.

Independence isn't a CUSA bowl They do have a secondary tie in with CUSA if one of the league's can't fill the slot.

I did not realize that. Thanks for the clarification. The Sun Belt needs to work on secondary tie ins, imo.

Don't feel bad, after reading several threads regarding the Bowl selection process, it is apparent that the majority posting here also don't have a clue how the Bowl selection process works!

Sorry, the MAC was not a good conference this season. I've watched Miami (Ohio) twice this season and they are not that good. I don't care if they are champions. And frankly, we need to beat them to have any momentum going into next season to sell tickets after the championship loss. The one thing Coach Napier has done in his second season is beat the teams he was supposed to have defeated. I will go to the bowl game because my team is playing in it, but I'm not excited about playing a mediocre MAC team.

----They are not mediocre if they are the champs, they are the legit champs of the MAC which is almost in a dead heat with the cusa conference in rankings-----Of course we need to beat them, but they are ahead of just about all cusa teams in the rankings----this year it was the luck of the draw in rules that were set up before the season started----btw I think we turned down the Indy on occasions in our bowl streak------Do we to re-think our positions? yes but remember when the rules were put into place the Belt had not yet become dominate over cusa!!!

Mel, does UL get the $$$ credit for this ? I remember in the past we had to buy direct for our count towards allotment
