I doubt this will get approved but on the off chance it does I'm going to share this unpopular opinion.

Do yourselves a favor and drop the "why people don't go to the games??" subject.

1st of all let's step into reality for a minute and realize that football of any sort is not some kind of obligation or higher power.

2nd leave the students alone. Maybe some of you were privileged in your college days but alot of students work, even if it's just for beer money, they work. I've been able to attend far more games after college because I no longer work weekends.

3rd parking is an issue like it or not. Making people wait in line and pay to park in a muddy field isn't going to draw in anyone. Case in point free parking for app state and look at the crowd ON A WEDNESDAY.

4th and final, the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about is TV deals are killing attendance everywhere not just UL. If you can save on tickets, parking, concessions, time and avoid the weather while enjoying the game from your recliner alot of people are going to chose that option. I fully realize that TV deals mean money for the school but it no longer requires people to have to sit in the stadium to see the action.

The harping, condescension and saying "Do better Lafayette" isn't going to win anyone over. Do your part, donate to the RCAF, pay to park, buy tickets, buy concessions and support the program best you can. I say this with love because I love my school and my Cajuns and want to point out that it is a negative image of our fan base to behave this way. We as a fanbase can "Do better" by putting an end to this "you're not a good enough Cajuns fan if you don't show up" mentality and start attracting others by showing how much we love and appreciate our school and our team.

I've said my peace and will leave this here. You can go ahead and tell me I'm wrong but I'm not going to reply. If you ask me what my solution to lack if the attendance is the answer is in my above post.

Great win last night to clinch the west and I'm looking forward to a rematch with App State. If we play complete football the way we have been I have no doubt we can win the sunbelt championship.
    Finally someone with some understanding.

I agree. I’d prefer more band to piped in music, but at least they have improved the music that they do play over the speakers

When we win next week, we'll come in at #25. ESPN wants an top matchup for the SBC Championship game.

I use to think our conference was part of the problem also. But now, I haven't a clue. Even though UL is hot, it is not "THE" place to be, so the casual fans are going to see LaSU because they are hotter. There were so many people who came to the game last night but left by 5:30 so they could go watch LaSU. I'm tired of getting mad and fighting with these fans. I can only do what I can do. I invite as many people as I can.

However, I look at the bright side, more places for me to sit and even better, more food for me at the tail gating spots. Yesterday, I ate at 6 different spots, one had Fezo's owners cooking (yum) and another as I walked by, I made a comment how great the food smelled. He put a plate of the best tasting ribs I've had in a long time. Made a new friend. Thanks Heath Bonin.

That’s a two edged sword. Probably as many or more would love to fire up the old ‘Delta 88’ and play the Brokebacks every year.

I hope you’re right. That would be a very ESPN thing to do, but I’ll take their charity.

Sorry man I disagree.... Students are the university and there is NO Excuse for the lack of attendance... I had a job I worked and I made games... games are FREE for students. Lack of student pride is SOUL Crushing.

We have to create a buzz. LSU is creating a buzz because they are going for a NC. We have to go back to single game tailgating spots, get rid of 10 dollar parking fee. We need to start promoting games at one billboard in every town around Acadiana.

Get enough money and get 20 billboards in 20 different towns.

It’s not about money it’s about convenience for the fan when it comes to getting rid of the parking fee and offering single game tailgating spots.

Well, you're right about the Delta 88.

Brokebacks, nope. Even not happy playing them in any sport, hell, even debate team. They sit and still criticize UL for going D-1 football years ago. And what has their sorry selves done since then? Sniffed the FCS championship game once, but mostly do what they've been doing for a few weeks this season. Playing out the season. And their attendance...WMHS out draws them.

We play them next year at CF. It's a good time to end this non rivalry.
