Are the games blacked out locally? Does the university or the conference have the power to accomplish that? I mean, what's the use of having 25,000-odd empty seats if it's freely available everywhere in town?

I’m a coach, a fan, an alumnus and a proud citizen of this incredible community... 14,262 considering what this team has done for the university, and community off the field, oh and to be a source of pride for both on the field is SOUL crushing. We are better than this Lafayette... Thank you to the true fans that made it out today.
Don t know if this guy is an Ragin pager, his post on FB....
I doubt this will get approved but on the off chance it does I'm going to share this unpopular opinion.
Do yourselves a favor and drop the "why people don't go to the games??" subject.
1st of all let's step into reality for a minute and realize that football of any sort is not some kind of obligation or higher power.
2nd leave the students alone. Maybe some of you were privileged in your college days but alot of students work, even if it's just for beer money, they work. I've been able to attend far more games after college because I no longer work weekends.
3rd parking is an issue like it or not. Making people wait in line and pay to park in a muddy field isn't going to draw in anyone. Case in point free parking for app state and look at the crowd ON A WEDNESDAY.
4th and final, the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about is TV deals are killing attendance everywhere not just UL. If you can save on tickets, parking, concessions, time and avoid the weather while enjoying the game from your recliner alot of people are going to chose that option. I fully realize that TV deals mean money for the school but it no longer requires people to have to sit in the stadium to see the action.
The harping, condescension and saying "Do better Lafayette" isn't going to win anyone over. Do your part, donate to the RCAF, pay to park, buy tickets, buy concessions and support the program best you can. I say this with love because I love my school and my Cajuns and want to point out that it is a negative image of our fan base to behave this way. We as a fanbase can "Do better" by putting an end to this "you're not a good enough Cajuns fan if you don't show up" mentality and start attracting others by showing how much we love and appreciate our school and our team.
I've said my peace and will leave this here. You can go ahead and tell me I'm wrong but I'm not going to reply. If you ask me what my solution to lack if the attendance is the answer is in my above post.
Great win last night to clinch the west and I'm looking forward to a rematch with App State. If we play complete football the way we have been I have no doubt we can win the sunbelt championship.
Maybe not the biggest issue, but I know for a fact that the 12-year-old DJ and consistent use of piped-in "music" over the uber loud PA system keeps at least some number of fans away. Call them/it what you will, but it's the truth, and they could fix it tomorrow if they really wanted to. It's really obnoxious.
Next weeks attendance will probably be worse
