1st of all let's step into reality for a minute and realize that football of any sort is not some kind of obligation or higher power.
Support of any kind is not an "obligation" but people that are humble and appreciative enough to give back to the university that educated them (and their families) used to have pride in doing so. People that understand 'What's good for UL is good for Lafayette' don't take it as an obligation, rather a privilege. Maybe if people would stop having such a selfish world view, they would understand that a bit better
2nd leave the students alone. Maybe some of you were privileged in your college days but alot of students work, even if it's just for beer money, they work. I've been able to attend far more games after college because I no longer work weekends.
You are dead wrong on this. Engineering Major, worked 2 jobs, and paid my own bills since 17. I didn't miss a single home game in baseball / basketball / football for any of my college years, unless it conflicted with tragedy. Most of my friends were the same exact way. Some of them lived out of town and drove BACK to Lafayette on the weekends to attend games. The students at this school DO NOT do their part. They are entitled little schits that want to be catered to and have everything given to them for free. ____ING disgrace.
3rd parking is an issue like it or not. Making people wait in line and pay to park in a muddy field isn't going to draw in anyone. Case in point free parking for app state and look at the crowd ON A WEDNESDAY.
Uh, Sir, have you attended another collegiate football game anywhere is this country? Like, a single one?? We have one of the best parking situations in the COUNTRY. P5 or G5. Most convenient, readily available and easy to access that I've been to.. This parking excuse is an absolute joke and it makes us look petty. Which, hey, we are petty. Just look at the posts.
4th and final, the elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about is TV deals are killing attendance everywhere not just UL. If you can save on tickets, parking, concessions, time and avoid the weather while enjoying the game from your recliner alot of people are going to chose that option. I fully realize that TV deals mean money for the school but it no longer requires people to have to sit in the stadium to see the action.
TV deals are another load of crap, specific to UL and the SBC. Most people (Sorry Boomer) don't know where to even find ESPN+. And btw, if you have to use TV as yet another excuse not to come to CF, whose fault is that really? What does that really say about you? The person that bemoans a microwave society but uses the TV convenience as a way to justify not attending is alma mater's football game? We're really setting a good example for our kids. "Sorry kids, we can't go out today because Daddy wants to sit in front of the TV." Get off of your lazy asses and get to the stadium. It's pretty damn simple.
The harping, condescension and saying "Do better Lafayette" isn't going to win anyone over. Do your part, donate to the RCAF, pay to park, buy tickets, buy concessions and support the program best you can. I say this with love because I love my school and my Cajuns and want to point out that it is a negative image of our fan base to behave this way. We as a fanbase can "Do better" by putting an end to this "you're not a good enough Cajuns fan if you don't show up" mentality and start attracting others by showing how much we love and appreciate our school and our team.
So you "love your school" and "love your Cajuns" but you're not enough of a supporter to turn the TV off and go the games, and support your Cajuns in person? Sometimes, people need to be told that they suck. And this fanbase has been fickle for a looooong time. You wanna say that they were cut at the knees by The Fossil? Granted. The Fossil was a long time ago now. We have everything that we need in place and I'm done with this stupid excuse. It's not 1988 anymore.
Cut the damn excuses and CARRY YOUR ASSES TO CAJUN FIELD.
