Thread: Caleb Anderson College Position

    Default Caleb Anderson College Position

Caleb Anderson is currently our highest rated recruit. He is listed as a 6'2", 185 lbs athlete. He's moved up on 247 from 48 to 39. Anyone know if he is projected as a WR or CB in college?

My understanding is that he will probably play on the offensive side of the football. I'm not certain of it because things can change depending upon whom will sign with UL. But he could also play safety as well.

Thanks T. I really like signing outstanding football players and determining their best position. I think Hud recruited some outstanding D1 athletes, but that didn't mean they were D1 football players.

Let’s see about 70% of our stars are Hud non football players?

I don't disagree with that, but looking at the entire roster, the Hud number is less than 50%. Maybe I didn't make my point as clearly as I thought I did.

For a G5 program to be successful, recruiting depth is vital. IMO, Hud had many 'really good' recruits in his tenure, but also had many misses (be it not good enough, never made it to campus, etc). Said another way, his top end was really good, but his bottom side was really bad or non-existent.

For my money, I would prefer a more traditional bell curve, where there are only a couple of top end, a couple of bottom end and the vast majority being consistent contributors.

HUD's recruiting prowess left with David Saunders. Period.

Billy recruiting strategy is much better!

I totally disagree with this. Without Saunders Hud recruited (on this team alone): Mitchell, Ragas, Lewis, Hunt, Dotson, Jacquet, Calais, Bradley and some others I am surely missing.

That is not my complaint with Hud. My point is that he missed BADLY almost as much as he got it right.

In my opinion Hud's problem wasn't recruiting.

The problem with Hud's system was coaching fundamentals and maintaining control of his program.

The truth is Hud took fundamentally sound football players from Bustle and blew the lid off of expectations and exceeded them.

Napier has taken Hud recruits and made them fundamentally sound football players.

Napier is the architect of the most balanced system this school has ever seen.

Hud lost sight of the fact that he was hired to be a football coach. Not a uniform designer, helicopter travel scheduler or an architechtural engineer. FOOTBALL coach.
