Refs got the alert to review the play before the play that ran the ball to the one. This was the 1st play after the punt return, so as long as they get the alert before the play is run, it negates the play.

I thought an alert was worthless if they don't blow a whistle.

Evidently targeting is just that special.

They have to be saying that they called for the review before we snapped it. If they let the 1st down play stand, then no review can be made, I don't think.

Still, we had the ball 1st and goal on the freaking five with our stable of running backs and we have to kick a FG. That is on US.

We can't snap the ball until the refs say it is ready to play. That mistake is on them.
