First ALL of the recruits were from JT, high school and JC. Second JT is the one that suggested to Coach Robe that he go after Deggs. Deggs thinks JT is a "Rock Star", so for those who hate him, find another thing to start hating. He isn't going anywhere soon. Someone has to get cut every year in the fall. Last season we had 4 players that came back in the spring to compete for 2 spots. All of the guys cut are helped getting placed somewhere.
If they were on scholarship and go to a JC as a freshman, the only place you can go back to after your freshman year is the team you originally signed with. After year two you can go anywhere you want. I do not think those rules have been changed. A recent rule change allows non-scholarship players a 1-time transfer to another D1 school without having to sit out.
Winning cures everything. If we win, JT will get the credit he deserves. The last two classes look pretty, pretty, pretty good to me.
Last year was the first year Talbot recruited full time. Find something else.
His major job last spring was recruiting. Seemingly no freshmen worked out.
No, 2 did. The reality of the situation is we have not been a very good baseball team for a few years now. Regardless if Robe was here or Deggs being here we had to cut some kids this fall. Kids were told at the end of last season that they could come back and earn their spot but they would not be on aid. We went out and signed a bunch of juco kids to come in and plug holes immediately. Chances are a true freshman isnt gonna come in and fill an immediate need in order to be competitive. Bottom line in order to compete now we needed immediate help. It is what it is. Im sure the philosophy of recruiting will get readjusted after this season and roster management will be more towards Deggs liking, but we need to get thru this season first and thise true freshman were not the answer.
The majority of the players he recruited last spring are the ones that just signed this week and still have their senior years to go. Some even commit during their sophomore seasons and aren't signed yet. The players that were here this fall were recruited a year before that. Almost all of them committed junior year or before.
