Thread: Collateral Damage?

  1. Default Re: Ark coach gone?

Morris was the first of many dominoes to fall. Who knows what Arkansas will do. If they don’t manage to get off the hook with Bielema, with two buyouts to pay for, they won’t be able to pay top dollar for a coach. I would think App State would have more to worry about with their coach having ties to Arkansas. The big money people want Malzhan, but I don’t think he would take it unless the money was astronomical. Any coach who goes there is gonna need a minimum of 4-5 years to build a winner, and the people of Arkansas are short on patience right now.

Not Arkansas, but it could certainly create collateral opportunities.

Nailed it. To date Napier has taken a mid tier SBC team and made them a top tier SBC team. No signature wins and a couple of bad losses. He needs to show A LOT more to get paid by some desperate P5 team.

I hate to even consider Napier leaving at this point. But just to respond to some of y'all comments please remember coach was all but expected to the the head coach at Arizona st before the President hired a buddy in herm Edwards. Napier has the background every AD is looking for. His being a HC for only 2 years will not keep anyone away if they are interested. There is a difference in if someone will offer and if they should offer. Also let it be said. Doesn't mean coach would want a job at a school in a desperate dumpster fire situation.

We have not won a conference championship or beaten a So called P5 team yet with this staff. Doubt our coaches are considered for SEC jobs until we do so and if we do next year can we just enjoy the ride!!!!!
    Geaux Cajuns!
.......My intro was about possible transfers or recruits committed that could transfer here for any reasons....we got a good LB a few years back!

Napier’s name has been floating around on a couple of different sites like ESPN and college football news..... I’m more worried about Memphis than I am Arkansas... didn’t someone mention Memphis had Napier Tops on their list of Norvell was to leave?

Only thing it will cost Memphis 5 mill to get Napier there 3 mill buyout + 2 mill salary .. Norvell only has a 500k buyout

Arkansas AD will be in a serious pickle for his job.....this has to be a great hire. It could go in any direction.

Problems for any Head coach at Arky is 1) in state recruiting is marginal at best. 60-80% reliant on out of state talent to be successful. 2) Every year they play Bama, LSU, TAMU, Auburn. Most years going 1-3 will be a good year, 2-2 is a great year. The second Arky is better than these 4.....these 4 have the re$ources to always one-up the Hogs. If they have to buy their coaching, they will.

    Willie Fritz.

Besides, there is a more attractive job out there with an easier path to the playoffs at FSU. The ACC had Clemson and nobody.
