I hate to even consider Napier leaving at this point. But just to respond to some of y'all comments please remember coach was all but expected to the the head coach at Arizona st before the President hired a buddy in herm Edwards. Napier has the background every AD is looking for. His being a HC for only 2 years will not keep anyone away if they are interested. There is a difference in if someone will offer and if they should offer. Also let it be said. Doesn't mean coach would want a job at a school in a desperate dumpster fire situation.
Napier’s name has been floating around on a couple of different sites like ESPN and college football news..... I’m more worried about Memphis than I am Arkansas... didn’t someone mention Memphis had Napier Tops on their list of Norvell was to leave?
Dudes, I knew what Boomer was asking. I was just messing with him. Hence the "lol" at the end of my post.
Arkansas AD will be in a serious pickle for his job.....this has to be a great hire. It could go in any direction.
Problems for any Head coach at Arky is 1) in state recruiting is marginal at best. 60-80% reliant on out of state talent to be successful. 2) Every year they play Bama, LSU, TAMU, Auburn. Most years going 1-3 will be a good year, 2-2 is a great year. The second Arky is better than these 4.....these 4 have the re$ources to always one-up the Hogs. If they have to buy their coaching, they will.
Willie Fritz.
Besides, there is a more attractive job out there with an easier path to the playoffs at FSU. The ACC had Clemson and nobody.
I understand. However, these were very much the exception, and both Ol' Miss and Auburn had deep pockets. Would also like to know what their buyouts were comporable to Napier's. Arkansas spent a lot of money buying out Jones, though they have now suspended payments, and owe another boatload to the guy they just fired.
In addition, Malzahn was supposed to be some offensive guru and Freeze had connections with Ol' Miss.
I also overstated my case.... I should have said it was highly unlikely.
I always avoid absolutes.... well, almost aways.
