Certainly if App reaches the CCG at 11-1 and the Cajuns come in at 10-2; given that all the evidence is that the teams are evenly matched, it will draw a huge amount of attention from football savvy fans. Even though no NY6 slot is up for grabs, this is the first time in recent history that any G5 conference other than the AAC can possibly end the season with two top 25 teams.

Imagine a situation where UL beats App 14-10 and both finish 11-2; then both hammer a perceived quality bowl opponent. I can't imagine a scenario where App would not be ranked at 12-2 with at least 2 P5 wins, nor where a 12-2 conference champion UL would not be ranked with a win over App and a quality bowl win on the resume.

This outcome would go a long way toward separating the SBC from the MAC and CUSA, and would close the gap on the MWC.

BEST part of this deal is that we will be MUCH better next year, especially defensively, while App only returns 3 defensive starters.

I agree with us being better next season, but don't underestimate App St.

Playoff impilications matter a whole lot less to people regionally than most think. CFB is becoming more and more regionalized, just like MLB.

I agree with MAT here. I will go beyond that and say most sports are becoming more focused than even a regional basis. People follow their own team and little else. Being able to watch your own team every game contributes to that. Talking heads on the networks saying same thing regularly also contribute to that perspective. Major events are of course the exception and the LSU vs Bama game was one of those.

We having a historic season where we finally have a legit shot at winning out first ever conference championship in the sunbelt and we fighting about where our coach and AD will leave to. Throw in negative nancies who would prefer being miserable as opposed to aspiring to dream and I wonder how many people are actually enjoying this season. Because it seems our success this season has caused more stress for some than enjoyment.

Few other than SBC fans will pay any attention to the SBC CCG, and the same is true for every other G5 conference CCG. It's just the way things are. The only CCG games that are "nationally paid attention to" are those P5 conference CCG's that have playoff implications.

Not underestimating them at all. Next man up at App will be pretty darn good. But losing 8 starters on D will take a little time to overcome no matter how good the next man up is.

a 1 loss app v. 2 loss cajun c'ship game will be paid plenty of attention. it'll get a great build-up, and will promise to be competitive.
