I think perimeter shooting will be an issue for a while with this team. I haven't seen a guard, besides Ced, who can consistently hit anything. I always liked PJ, and I'm curious as to what happened to cause the indefinite suspension.

Not to make excuses for coach but with only 8 people, you cant do your typical 5v5 practices.
Also heard they are looking at adding a walk on at the start of the new semester
Watching Roydell last night made me think, man we sure could have used that guy last year and right now. I suppose we're all too impatient these days. I just don't understand the benefit to bouncing around junior colleges just to end up at McNeese.
We're 2-0 right now. With that said, it's kind of sad that we're looking at bringing in a walk on this week to help fill space on the bench. There's just a bad ring to that.
When I predicted we would be better on defense, I did not know we would have only 8 players. Plan was to do a lot of trapping, inside and out. With the roster limitations and foul trouble concern, they were only able to double in the post. They did get some turnovers out of that move so there was some positive defensive play. Foul trouble also hurt when Malik Wison had to move to the forward spot and off of the McNeese sharpshooter. Defense should get better when they get some people back. Someone pointed out that you have trouble practicing/preparing properly when you can't go five on five and that may have been a factor in some of the late game miscues last night.
After seeing the replay of this game, I would say that with our interior guys healthy, you will see an improvement on defense. Dou was good but got in foul trouble way too often and we had to play much smaller allowing them to score more interiorly.
I would also add I'd like to see Temple play more as he's much better at defending the guard position than most of our guys and Jalen Johnson is better defensively than I thought he'd be. He had at least 3 blocks and played bigger than I expected him to. I think you'll see some improvement there as the year goes on. I'm more concerned with scoring at this point. We don't have a lot of guys that will create for others as we did with Stroman and Gant.
