Think Big Fish said they’d know more today.
The injuries couldn't have come at a worse time, especially with the fact that we have a tough few games coming up. What gets me, though, is what Turbine said. Why in the world were we put in this position in the first place? We recruited guys after 2017-2018, and four (?) of them leave after last season to where we have literally a brand new roster. Now, we have a brand new roster with injuries.
I know people don't want to hear this, but this is what frustrates a lot of our fans. We should've never been put in this position to begin with.
I wasnt very high on Wesley but at least he was a PG. Feels like all other options are either not true PG's or are still raw. I like Wilson a lot but you're right that he's going to have to develop quickly and there's no depth. Felt like there wasnt a real PG out there much of that first half. Just a lot of perimeter screens and handoffs then settling for a jumper or forcing it into the post.
not bobby fault we had all these injuries
This is where the accountability factor will come in. I brought this topic up in "the conversation" about the basketball program a few episodes ago in RCA. The fact of the matter is that the coaches will have to perform now at a certain level regardless of what's going on with the roster. Even with injuries, this was a young team to begin with that was going to go through growing pains. Unfortunately now, the youth and health will be magnetized.
In today's world of college athletics, coaches and programs are investments. For us, we are paying the most in The Sun Belt Conference for that investment. And that includes donors who give to RCAF and the programs. So, some of your contributions go to the coach's salary, which means a return on investment will always be expected, which also means how the team performs when competing. For us, 5th place in the conference is not a standard we should be ok with when paying this kind of money; and fans have a right to be frustrated with that. The higher the investment, the higher expected return. I would hope by now that the program is at a point to where a foundation is built to where finishing below 4th is difficult to do. But, it might look like we will be headed there for the second year in a row. I hope I'm dead wrong, but we shall see.
And the fact of the matter is, the smaller the roster, the more impact an injury or similar will have. Bigger rosters and more players in other sports allow you to absorb those better. Basketball is probably the hardest to recover from multiple guys going down. Not excusing anything, just pointing out the fact.
