Freshman Karleen Bedre scored a goal in the 10th minute before Gwen Mummert and Rachel Sutter put the match away with goals during a seven-minute span in the second half as Louisiana blanked No. 2-seeded Troy, 3-0, in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Wednesday at the Foley Sports Complex.

Very good start for the new regime.

I said at the beginning of the season that this team should have 3 goals, and amazingly they have hit all three.

#1--Finish with a winning regular season (8-7-3 overall), now 9-7-3 after one game of the tournament.
#2--Qualify for the SBC Tournament. Again only as a 7 seed, but could have easily been #4.
#3--Win an SBC tournament game, they did.

Now they have a chance to really shake things up and possibly make it to the finals if they can pull off another minor upset vs Arkansas State a team they gave everything they could handle during the regular season and we are playing much better today then early in the season.
