Kobe, like I have been saying is not 3 guard, he is more like a 6'5" PF. Lacks true guard skills. Still a good player, but just not a guard slash wing player. Id like to see him work more elbow areas and the short corners. He reminds me of the PF from TENN last year.

I dont want to overreact to one game against an NAIA opponent but I really like mylik's game. He may be best player on team come end of season.

The #3 spot is necessarily a guard spot like we've kept telling you. It's typically a front court role and wing player. He doesn't have to be a slasher to play the SF role which I feel is his best role. The best thing about that role is that he doesn't have be a slasher and 3 point shooter on the perimeter. He was excellent with the ball in his hands and is smooth. He may play some closer to the goal this year due to our lack of size but when he's removed from the knee situation and has more quickness I think you'll see him all over the court.

Overall, I think we definitely increased our talent level, especially in the frontcourt over what we would have had returning (Miller). Although I watched on TV and only watched most of second half, Wilson seemed bigger than a 6'3" guard that I thought he was listed at. He will help us so much this year even though he's not a great shooter at this point.

Julien was another guy who just looked like he has IT. He is smooth with the ball and has a good skill set. I was also impressed more with Spenkuch as he gave us an energy around the basket that every team needs to have on defense and rebounding. Wasn't expecting as much from him this year but he might be a contributor this year that we need.

Also saw some good defensive instincts from Temple. Glad he got ruled eligible.

The other guys obviously looked good at times but they gave us what I thought they'd give us. These guys just stuck out for whatever reason.

I thought Wilson was best overall plAyer on court last night and for one game he proved me right in my prediction of him being a stud on defense right away. Good thing Temple was ruled eligible considering the Wesley injury. Note we had 5 freshman on the floor at one point towards end of game last night and they all had their moments at some point. That should give folks a little optimism for the future

Might we at least every now and then have a team NOW, instead of the foggy future Mike? This is year 10. I thought Turbine indicated that Marlin was like Coach K who struggled for several years. I don’t think we’ve got the coach K of the G5 in spite of 400 wins.

This team has a lot of potential with so many young players. Last night they seemed out of sync at times; but Coach Marlin said he was trying a lot of different combinations. If these guys can develop a little chemistry, the future looks very bright. This year may not be the year, but if these kids develop, look out in future years.

. Maybe the optimism for the good play in the future relates to short term like later this season.

For those that did not follow game last night and wonder why the excitement about Mylik Wilson, some overall stats may show why people are pumped on him. 11 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 block is a strong line regardless of quality of competition.

I was really impressed with Johnson, Julien, and Wilson. I wasn't expecting Wilson to look so comfortable right out of the gate.
I feel like any team with a strong inside presence will have a huge advantage over this bunch, but maybe Smith will be a dominant rebounder and post player. We'll have to wait and see.
Saturday night should be a tougher test.
