Difficult to really see how good we will be bc i have no idea how good tulane is suppose to be. BUT we seem to have that aggressive approach everyone loves. In game 1 all pitchers were new guys except for Connor Cooke. For the most part we threw strikes. Angel is legit on the bump. I think we will be a gap to gap kind of team that has some speed. I saw more bunt attempts than today than i remember all of last year. Deggs has switched Connor Dupuy to a left handed bat bc of his speed. Heard that happen a few weeks ago. He made contact but obviously its a work in progress. Its kind of like a slap approach right now. Idk if that will continue of not. Couldnt stay for game 2 but would love to hear how we did
Couldn’t make it today, so glad to see the updates from those who did go. Thanks.
Does anyone know if BJ ryan was there? Did he make any visits to the mound or was it just deggs. If I recall, deggs would let the pitching coach talk to the pitchers most of the time at SHSU.
Bj was there. Deggs made one mid inning and he made the trip to mound
I think BJ is going to make vists and Deggs is going to make changes. That's what we saw in Starkville.
I was glad to see a couple of guys get better from the time I saw them at MSU. Looks like Holley is going to win the 1B job. He wasn't very good early, but he had much better plate discipline and started today as opposed to Starkville.
Hagedorn has come a long way as well. He was the DH today.
I think we'll be fine offensively. Certainly not the juggernaut of '13 and '14.
We got guys thrown out because Deggs is going to be ultra aggressive. He congratulated every guy who got thrown out because he called the plays.
Guys, I think we are going to be REALLY good on the bump. We've got super depth. Robinson and Angel will be better than just about anyone in the league. Connor Cooke has turned into a freak.
I think we'll have five legit starters.
First, I meant Talley at 1B, not Holley.
Bradford looked ok, but he's just eight months off Tommy John. The fact he's even throwing is a good sign.
Connor Cooke is your closer. He was up to 94 on the gun in Starkville. And that looping curve he had doesn't loop any more.
