He’s not going to fire the volleyball coach. Volleyball was actually relevant in the SBC last year for the first time in probably over a decade. Hell, I wish he’d send the Track & Field Head Coach packing. Ain’t going to happen. Those sorts of sports are generally going to be left alone, unless in a situation like Soccer where that dude was here since the program’s inception and NEVER fielded a respectable team.
Gotta pick your battles as to what programs are perinnial conference beaters. MY personal preference, I’d pick FB, baseball and softball. Basketball is a “whatever” for me, but I know for others it’s important. I will agree Marlin is overpaid. Bring in a young, hungry guy for a bit less money. We are a lower-level mid major, and we should approach basketball like Football. Find a young guy who is hungry and wants to move on to a major/P5 Head job. Bringing in someone who wants this to be a retirement job is not going to produce the results that the basketball fans want.
As for women’s basketball, that’s similar to volleyball, soccer, etc. Not much thought or effort is going to be given to it, and I’m not sure a whole lot should.
Volleyball coach is a lot like Marlin. Hasn’t been relevant most of her career. Lovely lady though, very impressed with her as a person,, not as coach. Maybe she’s curbed by financial issues. Naturally I’m not privy to those things. We’re told we’re similar to other SBC squads
I recall T-Joe stating that he was changing the AD and hiring someone to get things done, his words (paraphrased) not mine. So, with that being said, I think there is still much to be done and although he has done a good job up to this point, he still has a lot to get done. I don't think Dr. Savoie was referring to baseball or softball. I think he was meaning the Football Stadium and putting UL in a position to be in a better conference. Because of that, I will hold off on my rating for now.
