Plus the things he had to deal with has been incredible. He has been both aggressive and responsive. He has reached out to connect with our past players. To be honest our past players have not wanted/felt welcomed to come back before he arrived. His hires have been more than what most wanted but didnt expect was possible. Cant say for sure but I would guess he has been increasing our relationships with AAC AD's as well as AD's around the country for scheduling. Solid 10 rating. Simply put He has controlled what he has control over as best as someone can.
Exactly. I mean, he's been here 2 years and was faced with some real serious issues when he arrived....and he's tackled most of them very well.
When ranking him we should keep in mind where we were in 2017 -vs- today. To not rank him a 10 because we have gotten every single we need/want is wrong.
Plus, the things he tried to do but weren’t very successful he corrected very quickly. At least he’s trying....and willing to admit his failures, fix them and keep moving.

That's the best thing about him. The man seems to not have an ego. I don't think ANYONE else could have done a better job thus far.

    Good points here.

The man had a lot to fix in 2017 when he first arrived. It took he and his crew almost an entire year to get front office operations on track. Also, he’s had to deal with the softball drama and hiring a new football coach all in his first year as well. Communication has also been a strong point with fans. Overall, we are blessed to have Dr. Maggard leading the charge.

Only one major grievance, extending the Big Fish contract. Maybe he had to because of language in the prior contract. Marlin and Brodhead simply don’t make sense when he wants conference domination. We’ve also got a volleyball coach whose still hear only because of loyalty. I understand that you can’t fire everyone underperforming in one year. But don’t give them extensions.

It is subjective. You said it yourself that he wasn't able to deal with every issue and there were failures. Maybe people view that differently.

Well let me be clear: I do not think that it even close to 'many failures.' A couple, middling ones at most, and even those he seemed to address quickly and made necessary corrections.
But the main point I made was that they are nothing in comparison to what he faced upon his arrival.

His handling of the lotief issue, and hiring of Glasco, then firing HUD and hiring Napier put him at 9.5, with the Robe/Deggs issue pushing it to 10.

I can't really disagree with anything he's done so far. Every hire and or fire he's made looks like a Home run.

I think Marlin and Broadhead realize that they need to show some big improvement really quickly.

    9.5

9, deducting 1 point as long as he keeps The Big Fish around.

......maybe a better judgement would be it’s being broken down into different areas like fund raising, facilities, hirings, recruiting, conference rankings, etc!!! Think he is doing quite well under an objective critique!

    “hasn't dumped marlin. i gave a 7.”
“Only one major grievance, extending the Big Fish contract. “
“I think Marlin and Broadhead realize that they need to show some big improvement really quickly.”
“deducting 1 point as long as he keeps The Big Fish around.”
    I’m seeing a pattern here.
