Thread: Top 100 Baseball Programs per D1baseball.com

  1. Default Re: Top 100 Baseball Programs per D1baseball.com

In 2015 Louisiana was ranked 30th and higher than Coastal.

2016 Coastal wins a National Championship.

In 2017 Louisiana moved UP to 26th in program rankings and Coastal leaped to 17th.

I don't know why its so hard to admit the power of a National Championship in this ranking.

Of course a championship helps. I don't think anyone is denying that. If UL wins the title next year, you can flip the two rankings.

    I agree.

The point of my previous post (on 2015, 2017) was to bring it to the pivot point of the event horizon that flipped the ranking, namely Coastal's 2016 NC.

Tulane has 9 regionals, 3 supers and 2 CWS trips since 2000 and they are ranked 72. 🤔 I guess D1B is not bullish on Tulane in the near future.

If this was all-time USC would be #1 and LSU, Texas, and Arizona State would be right behind them

Jeez, Turbine, this isn't nearly as difficult as you're making it out to be.

These rankings are done every two years and they are refined based on what happened during that time.

Yes, Coastal won a national title. But that wasn't the whole deal. Our ranking a couple of years ago was based on that run of regionals from 13-16, including a pair of supers. Then we didn't go to regionals for three years. That mattered, as well as Coastal's title.

What happened in 2000 is VERY ancient history according to the rankings. Just as Coastal's NC won't mean that much if they suddenly quit making regionals.

I take the evaluation to be taking into account the last 5-10 years and looking forward the next 5-10 years.

IMO, we are only ranked this high because of our facilities, great fan support and the high expectations of Coach Deggs. The last 5 years have hurt the most, the last 10 were much better.

Where are y'all getting that 2000 matters not at all?

They flat rule rule out the 90's ...

say its "more important to establish a tradition of consistent winning in the last decade, and especially in the last five years."

Seems like a sliding scale of importance diminishing back to 2000.

Want to know why 2000 doesn’t matter? Some players on the current roster weren’t even born when we went.
