No need, I know comparing scores is a joke and so does anyone with a brain

Yards depends on how the games are actually going. Some teams give up tons of yards in garbage time etc.

Comparinf Total yards does give you a clearer picture than scores but not by much

The best part is you just assume That all the points were scored by the offense. Maybe you will learn something by looking at total yards because you could use the education.
