Long throwing motion, footwork is below average, one rear thrower (unless he breaks the pocket and then he’s ok at making plays), throws way too many 50/50 balls.
The guy is not a bum, but he’s not Danny Wuerrfel either. He’s a nice QB for their system. As long as we don’t blow coverages and get decent pressure when he drops back, we’ll be fine.
Cajuns win with strong running game and stopping AppSt with 3 picks...45-38
App St 34
Louisiana 41
I know this much: we wont be out-coached.
Man, I really don't know what is going to happen in this game. Usually I have a pretty good feeling, but who knows when these two teams meet tomorrow night.
First off on Offense, we have to establish the run. Levi does not have to be great through the air, but he has to be good and efficient. If we get the ball first we need to have a statement drive, just as we did @ GaSo. If they get the ball first we need to get a big stop to get the crowd fired up. I think we need to be about 60-40 in the first half, run vs pass. If we get up and can hold the lead then in the 2nd half I think we can lean on the run much more.
Defense, we have to make sure we are disciplined with Thomas, as has been stated on here 1000 times, he is not Taylor Lamb, but he is really good and he is even better when he gets into open space. We can not allow him to beat us with long runs. Their RB is good, I mean really good. I think it was Jay that said he is the best running back in the league not wearing a Cajun uniform.
Special teams don't need to be special but need to be good. Garror needs to catch every punt, I don't care if he gets 10 yards or 0 on the return, but the punts need to be caught. I don't know if we will see many kicks returned but if we do, we need to get the ball out of the shadow of our end zone. Drives need to start at the 25 at the minimum. App can put pressure on the QB, so starting inside the 10 will be trouble. Rhys needs to continue to be Rhys, We don't need 70 yard punts, but he needs to keep the ball away from their dangerous returners and get us out of trouble when needed. Kickoffs, just don't let them return them and we will be ok. They are dangerous on returns, but Allemdeous has been really good kicking the ball into the endzone, he needs to keep that up. Stevie needs to get some confidence in this game, if and when he gets attempts he needs to connect on them. Hopefully we won't need him, but if we do, he needs to make everything inside of 40 yards.
This is going to be a downright dogfight.
My prediction
Cajuns 38
Mountaineers 34
We shall see in about 38 hours. Geaux Cajuns
Just curious, everyone seems to think we won't or can't kick field goals but there seem to be a lot of people thinking we score 3 points or miss an extra point. As bad as we have been at kicking field goals, Stevie is still 28-28 on extra points.
Where are all these 3 point or point scores coming from?
