Doak Walker Award: Running back
In the past 15 years, only three players rushed for more yards in the first five games of the season than Oklahoma State's Chuba Hubbard has this season (938). Those players -- LSU's Leonard Fournette (2015), Stanford's Bryce Love (2017) and Northern Illinois' Garrett Wolfe (2006) -- all went on to rush for 1,900-plus yards. Hubbard is rushing for roughly 50 yards more per game (187.6) than the next-most productive back in the country, Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor (139.8), who won last season. Ohio State's J.K. Dobbins (654 yards) and Louisiana's Trey Ragas (9.8 yards per carry) are also off to promising starts.
Totally agree.
I agree.....those type of articles will be written a few times every year going forward. Still it is very good pub for UL. Rather be the team with nat'l positive recognition...vs 0%.
The more an agenda is repeated and not shunned, the more it becomes acceptable. Just like politics (disclaimer, not identifying or promoting any political view).
As if we have any control over it.
News flash: P5s have all the power and money and they will do everything they can to keep all the power and money. If they wanted to separate from us tomorrow in football there’s really nothing stopping them.
So you’re ok with just throwing up our hands and bend over since we can’t stop them? Thanks Bobby Knight.
Heck, that kind of attitude would had us stay in the SLC. We know the P-5s have the money, but we must never go down without a fight. Makes the last 40+ years meaningless if we just quit striving.
And the truth is, the gap is closing, not widening. Yes, there are about 20-30 programs that are unreachable at this point (assuming we keep the current model), but the mid tier P5 and Upper tier G5 are not that far apart.
