Listening to Jay's show. He's selling himself short on history. He mentioned that he has never called for a Cajun team that started 5-1. The Cajuns started 6-1 in Hud's first year (2011.) Did he miss a game that year?

Lost to Oklahoma State in the opener then beat Kent State, Nicholls, FIU, FAU, Troy and North Texas to start 6-1 before going on the road and losing to WKU.

I believe some of those wins were vacated

Right on. Just heard him mention it. Technically yes, but in the history books, no.

I am looking forward to meeting some Cajun fans. My son & I will be there Wednesday around 11:00 ish. Hope to have lunch at Fezzos and dinner at Cafe Vermillionville. I've developed a fondness for Cajun cookin'! Can't deny it.

As to the ballgame, App's offense & special teams are pretty darn good. Both are better than last year's versions. And, that's saying alot. Speed everywhere & the O-line has controlled the LoS of all games so far (incl. UNC).

App's D has some questions. If those questions are not answered, this could be an old fashioned shoot-out.

Louisiana looks pretty good too. I thought you all played us last year harder than anyone else. GaSo beat us last year, but that really was unusual b/c 1) game was down there, 2) our QB suffered a concussion early on, & 3) our best LB was ejected in 1st half. Things went down hill from there. We play GaSo this year on Halloween this year on ESPN (should be a real slobber-knocker!).

Congrats on your win in Statesboro. Anyone who can beat them down there has a good football team.

Say hello if you see us. Looking forward to it. Good luck!

BTW, it seems to me that it is a shame that Louisiana & App State are separated by such a long distance. Otherwise, we would have a natural rivalry with better attendance from the visiting side.
Cafe V is doing their fall courtyard concert series on Wednesdays from 6-9. You might have to make other dinner plans.

Cafe V opens at 5:30 for Diner. I think you can do better than Fezzos for lunch. Maybe Dons Seafood hut on Johnston. Unfortunately, you will miss Dwyers cafe (lunch only) and their calf Tongue on Tuesday plate lunch if you are looking for hard core cajun. Maybe you could try Johnsons Boucanier on St. John Street (you can have some kind of boudin) or Pops po boys on Jefferson street (ask for extra napkins it is a bend over po boy).

The Best Stop or Dons specialty meats boudin is worth a try.

Dons Specialty Meats is the best boudin.

If you make it a Don’s day - Don’s Seafood Hut on Johnston - I recommend a cup of crawfish bisque as an appetizer and the Shrimp and Oyster en’brochette as the main course. The latter is no longer on the menu but the best entre there if you ask for it.

Billy's has the best balls though

Gotta get some good boudin balls too if he’s heading to Scott (or Carencro) Don’s
