Why? If it's found he did nothing wrong, and the allegations are false, then what would be the problem?

Getting a high profile coach who's been successful at everything he's done?

He's a sleazeball, does not get along with his peers and superiors, he does not graduate players and we have a better option with more character that will probably come here after his NCAA tournament run. If you want to sell our soul for two years worth of victories, you need to learn patience.

This decision looks to be made possibly by the time the tourney starts. With that timeframe, I don't know if Kennedy is a viable option, especially if he's getting serious BCS play.

Agree100% on Floyd.... We would finally see defense around here.. He is a great recruiter.. and if we can get a couple of exciting years I would accept the downside that comes with Floyd... We need to have something to be excited about again.... and high graduation rates doesnt do it for me

    Sorry for being so honest

Floyd would be a great hire. I think the ones that are saying no think it is impossible and they might be right. Who else is on the list with big time college and pro experience?

in the press conference David Walker said they are looking to get it done by the time the final four starts. so unless we plan on getting a coach from a final four team everyone we are looking at should be done with the tourney.

  8. UL Basketball Ragin' Cajuns To Look For New Men's Basketball Coach

The University of Louisiana announced on Tuesday that head men’s basketball coach Robert Lee’s employment agreement would not be extended.

For the past 14 years, Lee has served the men’s basketball program, the last six seasons as head coach. Lee obtained early success winning the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and leading his team to the NCAA Tournament in his first year. In his third year, he inherited both academic and NCAA issues that resulted in scholarship losses for the program. Lee’s commitment to the program, both on and off the court, allowed the program to overcome these issues. The basketball team now has one of the most successful academic programs of any of the Ragin’ Cajuns athletic teams.

“This decision is both difficult and painful, because I consider Coach Lee a man of outstanding character and a valued friend,” UL Athletic Director David Walker said. “His loyalty to the University and his commitment to the young men he coaches have never been questioned.

“The University places a great deal of importance on both the academic success and the conduct of our student-athletes. Coach Lee has excelled in both of these critical areas, and we will be forever grateful for the contributions he made. But a program’s success is also measured by wins and losses.”

The athletic department will immediately begin to identify the next head coach for the men’s basketball program. To assist in the process, the athletic department has retained the services of Carr Sports Associates, a national service firm. The firm will identify potential candidates that meet specific criteria. An advisory committee has also been established that will assist in evaluating candidates. The committee will be comprised of Dr. Anita Hazelwood (Faculty Athletic Representative), Dr. DeWayne Bowie (Vice-President of Enrollment Management) and Charlie Moncla (Ragin’ Cajuns Athletic Foundation board member). The committee will work closely with Scott Farmer, UL Senior Associate Athletic Director.

“We will strive to have a coach named in the very near future,” Walker explained. “But this decision will determine the future of our men’s basketball program, and we will take the necessary time to ensure that we have identified and selected the best possible coach to lead our program.

“After the process has been completed, I will submit my recommendation to President Savoie.”

You know who else is a sleazeball who has trouble getting along with people?

Almost every highly successful D-1 basketball or football coach.

In order to be good at a high stakes job, 80% of the time it serves you to be kind of an ass.

I would be totally OK if Tim Floyd came in here, brought us to the dance in 2012 & 2013, and was gone to greener pastures by late March.

Please keep in mind all my comments on Floyd are dependent on him being cleared from any wrongdoing.

Dude, where there is smoke, theres fire. He did something. There is no denying that. At best, he's guilty of terrible judgment. I have no interest in Tim Floyd whatsoever. I would actually be disappointed if we hired him.

    Maybe he did.

I think every non-move that was made by the administration in the past 2 years exponentially increased the importance of the next major hire.

Because we've taken the easy way out of every coaching decision recently, something big must happen to "energize the base," so to speak.

I don't have a Tim Floyd poster in my office just yet, but I do know that the hire would qualify as a "big".

Others meet that qualification as well. I just think it would be silly for UL to not even consider it.

foo, that is the problem. There will still be people not happy with the final decision. You can't make everyone happy, but the bottomline is the new coach will have to meet the same criteria for APR and Graduation rates. Everyone will have their favorites, but there will be only one HC hire.
