_ They dont know all the high shcool coaches from the area like me and all the AAU coaches from the state.... not saying whoever they hire needs me, but it would be a win for the program, i we havent been getting that many wins lately!!!!

_ I wouldn't necessarily be against a Tim Floyd hire. Like you say, he certainly has the credentials and experience and the local ties to recruit not only nationally but locally. About 2 months ago, he is the guy that I would have put first on my list. However, I don't think you'll see the university hire Floyd now. He has too much baggage to his name and they are not into unnecessary risks. I think this is what scared them off about the Orgeron possible hire. _

I'm completely aware of his status with the NCAA. My post here and on Redzone is completely assuming that he is cleared, as per my focus on risk aversion by the administration. This is supposedly what happened with the Orgeron interest and why it went away. Again, I can't see us in a position to be able to afford a hire of a Floyd. It would, however, go a long way in ensuring the fanbase that they are serious about progressing this program not only to the point where it was, but ascending to a much loftier level.

And this is one of the things that the administration needs to accomplish when making the next hire. Our fans are either losing faith or have already lost faith and they need to do something to let us know that they want to win. I think basketball is the perfect sport to do that with being that it was at one point our most successful and most popular program.

_ I am hoping for a big name hire that comes with an impressive resume. Tim Floyd fits that criteria. I would also be satisfied with Kennedy or Butch. I am totally against hiring anyone who is currently a highschool coach. I also wouldn't mind seeing Brad Boyd hop on as an assistant. I think he could bring a lot to a staff. _

Quinn Snyder ran into some trouble at Mizzou and to the best of my knowledge, hasn't coached since. No thanks...Not to mention he's a Dukie. Yuk

As one would expect, the Ragin Cajuns will feature many old faces on the court next year...one of the NEW ones may be the man who replaces Robert Lee. And this man has his shoes cut out for him...Robert has graduated players, held them on course to graduate, and none have gotten into trouble. The same cannot be said for the prior Cajun head coach, Glenn Cyprien....wait...he was only there 2 days...I mean the prior prior Cajun head Coach...wait that was interim Head Coach Robert Lee.....wait it was Jessie Evans, whom it appears is now a Pro Scout, as he has trouble getting an assistant and/or Head Coaching gig after his fiasco at USF. Jessie had many players come in and out of the program...trouble off the court....not many kids on pace to graduate/much less attend class or stay eligible...however he did win! Even though the players wore baggy shorts, and different color shoes, and many games the team appeared unstructured--his record does speak for itself...Where Coach Lee's doesn't! Now if you want your son to play for a coach who would it be? A family man, a true father figure who speaks honestly and shows emotion. A man who teaches off the court that life is much bigger than basketball, a man that practices what he preaches and teaches young men that their word means something? Or do you want to WIN...at all cost, leaving behind a series of events investigated by the NCAA, placed on internal probation as well as external, and vacating wins and monies derived from that NCAA appearance against Louisville...You see some Programs have it all....some want to have it all...some feel they need to have it all and some think the coach needs to provide it all....I feel the Fans expectations are warranted as long as they are stepping up to support what they feel they are due. Or the coaches paid within the conference fairly? Are the facilities equal, is the practice facility adequate? DO the fans come out to support the program? Is the academic center helping the student athletes? Or the dorm facilities on equal footing as member schools in the conference? This being said my feelings are the Ragin Cajuns are not at the Top of the conference, but not at the bottom, the middle of the pack philosophy is probably appropriate--

My concern is that we go after a coach who can do it all, comes from a program that has done it all, and comes in knowing OUR expectations are that WE want it all!! Not just graduates, student/athletes, winners, young men we are proud to support...but on the court studs...SUN Belt Champions....Top flight performers AND graduates, winners, young men we are proud to support and a COACH whose expectations are higher than our own!

I have posted several places where I feel we need to look into contacting assistants to fill this head coach position...here again are my suggestions:

_ Now, I do think we need a new basketball coach no matter how this night and season turns out, but I also thought (still do) that Bustle needed to go. My questions is, does Robert Lee have an argument to stay since we decided to extend the contract of Ricky Bustle, even though he didn't produce like all of us wanted him to.

Doesn't it seem plausible that he could say "hey, why does this man get an extension when he doesn't perform, yet I am not retained when my performance was comparable to his?"

Your points are well received. I do believe Robert stood for those things off the court. It's a shame that he was unable to get the players to commit themselves in the offseason to getting themselves better. There is only one player that I can think of in the past 5 or so seasons that has improved himself year in and year out and improved not only physically but expanded his game through summer sessions and training. I doubt I have to name him as well all know who the POY was. I was not said to see Evans gone. The guy was a train wreck waiting to happen and perhaps the administration saw this early and let him go with no resistance. I can say this. The administration has a long list of criteria that they will require the next coach to agree to commit to following if he wants to be the next coach, and at the front of that list will be academics of players and keeping them on course to graduate along with off court behavior. However, hopefully they will bring in a candidate we can afford as well as get production not only in the classroom but on the court.
