Sorry Turb, but you are dead wrong on the Pierre issue.

He doesn't fit my criteria for a head coach either, wasn't sure if some opposed him as an assistant as well.

Ideally if we could get Tim Floyd to be the head coach with Butch Pierre as the top assistant would be the best of both worlds. You would be getting a high profile head coach that will increase ticket sales and you are getting a coach that knows x's and o's. With Butch Pierre as an assistant you would clean house in Louisiana with recruiting and Butch has many other contacts in the recruiting world recruiting high profile athletes for LSU and Okla St.

To make this work UL needs to think outside the box and offer Butch Pierre the next head coaching position when Tim Floyd decides to move on which he may. By doing this recruits will continue to want to sign on with UL and Butch Pierre because they know when Floyd leaves Pierre will still be their coach. This is the only way Pierre would come here as an assistance. This is kind of like what Texas is doing with Will Muschamp and what Florida St. is doing with Jimbo Fisher.

    Default Butch Pierre Visit

Butch Pierre will be in town tomorrow to see his recruits in the Top 28. While in town, he'll meet with UL officials to interview for the coaching position.

Butch is the #2 guy at Ok St isn't he? Do you really think he would give that up to be the #2 here?

UL Basketball I am not really a basketball fan...

Also, this fellow is not a candidate, he certainly has no idea I am posting this stuff here, and he may not even be interested in college coaching due to the uncertain employment outlook, etc; but...

IMO, he would be the most prolific basketball coach in UL history if he took the job. In fact, I would wager that there would be a feaking movie made about it 10 years from now...

    Jonathan Pixley’s bio

•All-district, all-metro, and all-state performer at Catholic High School in Baton Rouge.
•All-freshmen and 3-time All-Conference (twice 1st team) selection at Samford University under former LSU head coach John Brady.
•Was NABC Regional All-American during senior season at Samford.
•Was the first player in Samford history to play on 4 winning teams.
•Finished collegiate career as Trans America Athletic Conference’s (now called the Atlantic Sun) all-time leader in 3-point field goals made.
•Also ranks 6th in conference history in scoring and 3rd in free throw percentage.
•While trying to join the professional ranks, Pixley sustained a career-ending knee injury while playing in the FILA Summer Pro League in Los Angeles, Ca. the summer after his senior year in college.
•Worked out for the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA prior to knee injury.

    Coaching Credentials

    High School

•Currently in his 9th season as head coach at the Dunham School in Baton Rouge.
    •His 2008-2009 team set a school record with 33 victories (33-4 record).
•Teams have made playoffs in 7 out of his 9 seasons as head coach.
•Current streak of 3 consecutive 20+ win seasons.
    •Over 160 wins in 9 seasons.
•Pixley was also the girls’ head coach for 2 years, leading the program to its first playoff victory in a decade in 2005.

    AAU

•With Pixley as the head coach, all three 17/u Red Storm teams have finished in top 4 in state and qualified for the National Championships in Orlando, Fla.
•Red Storm Basketball has been in existence since 2004.

No college coaching experience. I'm not saying that coaching AAU isn't a respectable gig but it doesn't qualify someone to jump directly to D1 basketball. So in other words, I say ABSOLUTELY NOT!
