For some reason, and i'm not really sure why, i just don't think Tim Floyd would be the right person to hire for the job. I know he has a good upside to him with recruiting, winning records everywhere & a recognizable name. But i think the downsides might outweigh the upsides with an NCAA investigation pending, not big success as an NBA coach, low APR scores, etc.

I could be wrong about this but my gut feeling is that he's just not the right person for the job. Maybe it's because he's a Redneck Tech grad that used to coach UNOSUX, our two biggest rival schools, and he may not have any allegiance for our university. Maybe it's because he seems to not stay at a job for very long. I just don't know why!!! Does anybody else feel this way too???

Maybe Butch is the right one for the job????

You may have some legit reasons to justify your feelings, but not succeeding as an NBA coach are not one of those for me.

Other college coaches that have not succeede in the pros. Rick Pitino, John Calipari, Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier. Its simply another level that encompasses many different things that do not translate from college, namely dealing with professional egos.

I also think we would be lucky to get Tim Floyd, if he is cleared by the NCAA he is a Slam Dunk!

For years I was very frustrated watching Tim Floyd and UNO "school" us with with less talent. This only happened because Tim Floyd was a smart coach. I remember thinking that if we only had a coach with real basketball coaching skill, combined with a facility like the Cajundome, and a community like Lafayette, this thing could explode. He would be my number one choice. He may have a little baggage, but this baggage may be enough to keep some bigger schools away and give us a better chance. I see it more as an opportunity. This is only my opinion and to be honest, I'm tired of losing. I think he could make us a winner......quickly.

    Tim Floyd
Billy Kennedy (but I don't think he's really an option)
    Dennis Felton
    Butch Pierre

Butch does move up on my list from time to time. _

I agree. I'd put Kennedy first but I don't know if he's much of an option after he starts talking to some BCS schools.

    1. Give Butch the title Head Coach in waiting like Muschamp at Texas and what Jimbo Fisher had at Florida St.
    2. A chance to coach under Tim Floyd and continue to learn to prepare to become the next head coach. For many people this is the biggest draw back for Butch that he has no head coaching experience and in this role he will gain good experience to prepare.
    3. A chance to come back to UL where he always wanted to end up.
    4. Gets a chance to come back to Louisiana where he has great success in recruiting.
    5. With Floyd and Pierre together we should dominate Louisiana and the Sun Belt and make the NCAA tournament most years. Most likely more ofter than Okla St. would.
    6. A chance to really put UL on the basketball map and get this program back to a top 25 ranking.
    7. This may be his best and only chance to be UL's head coach.

Of coarse we will need to pay Butch $100,000 a year and give him a car for recruiting. This senerio is not just under Tim Floyd but I would like this for anyone we may hire before Butch. _

Doing this would be great but truly isn't very feasible. We are already willing to pay our new head coach double what Lee made with a good chunk of that coming from yearly private dollars. I can't see how we would be able to pay the next head coach up to 300k and Pierre 100k as an assistant.

If we are averaging 3000 more fans a game I think this would more than pay for it.

It would take more than 100k for Butch, he's making more than that at a BCS school. Hiring both sounds incredible but it's simply unrealistic.
