Agreed. I think another win will probably be the death nail for many of the most negative posters. We are ahead of schedule and winning games while still making mistakes. What I like is more and more of our “mistakes” are mental errors and not physical limitation errors. I am still worried that our DBs are prone to PI and holding calls, but at least they are now covering the WR. Let’s hope Manac is OK because he is our best DL player.
Well, this game was looked at by nearly ALL fans as the measuring stick of our team and and a major determinant of how our season may go. We dominated the LOS on both sides of the ball and we made who some called the best QB we would face all year look like he was lost. Defensively, I can't say enough how impressed I have been with the play this year and what these coaches have done with these players. I still think we are missing some talent in the front 7 but they have been locked in since week 1.
Offensively, I'd like to see a little more to our vertical passing game but this is a component that you can improve on week to week and I think we will. We are a much better football team this year even though our talent levels may not be where we will ultimately want it to be.
I know I’m extremely excited about the win, especially being on the road against a team who hasn’t had a losing season since 2005 or 2006. Huge win and a step in the right direction.
But, and this is a big but, if we want to play a late season SBC Championship game in Lafayette and go to Nola for a bowl, LL HAS TO BE BETTER. He can’t miss wide open TDs, he can’t have WRs drop wide open TDs and he will have to run a little more. He must make the easy passes look easy, which he has mostly done.
This is a 10 or more win roster right now. But it all depends on the play of LL.
Additionally this “great” QB missed a number of wide open receivers with ample time to throw the ball. He certainly didn’t live up to the hype I heard all week. Might have been a bad day, and not his norm. Yes, he was also under duress often. We got multiple turnovers in those cases.
