Thread: Louisiana Sets Scoring Record in 77-6 Victory Over Texas Southern

  1. Default Louisiana Sets Scoring Record in 77-6 Victory Over Texas Southern

It was a busy night at Cajun Field for Louisiana, which set two new school records and narrowly missed out on a third in a dominant 77-6 victory over Texas Southern at Cajun Field on Saturday night.

You have to go back to November 4th 1903 Delcambre Academy (later Delcambre Commercial College) to find the biggest margin

    Louisiana 105
    Delcambre 0

What year in time are the records considered the 'modern era'? The 30's, 40's?

I do t know exactly, but I think modern era starts about the time D1 was formed.

I would think 1903 is outside the modern era, but that’s just my opinion.

I also wonder when the last time...if ever...we have agreed to 10 min quarters, because we were so dominant in a game.

I think the game should have been played out, not 10 minute quarters. This is college football, not Pee Wee or something with a mercy rule.

If I remember correctly we went to a running clock late in the game with Nicholls a few years ago.

Modern era is before Cajun Field time. It opened in 1971.

Read up on determining when the modern era of CFB began. Frankly it's subjective. Some say post WWII- 1946. Others say it's 1970 when rules changes were implemented that more resemble today's game. Or 1973 when D-1 was created. Or even 1978 when D-1A was created. Take your pick.

What purpose would that serve? Texas Southern was overwhelmed. More potential injuries for sure. I get it, but the NCAA rules were applied.

It's been a rough century for Delcambre
