With all the changes they made this year to the roster, I suspected as such.

We live in an era where BUTLER went to back-to-back NATIONAL championship games..

We live in an era where UALR, in one year, went from a door mat to destroying the SBC, walking through the conference tournament, and then winning their first round game in the dance. Almost won the second.

I'm sick and god damned tired of hearing the excuses of why we CANT...

All these other nobody basketball programs could.. But we still CANT.
Agreed. I spend a ton of time being a realist in day to day business but its especially true when you are a cajun fan. At some point, you have to be able to move past that and ask the same questions you just did. When our AD starts asking those questions, we may be on to something.

On the topic of "expectations" your post exemplifies how the coaches poll got it right.

Their are many more examples of our results or worse than the couple you listed above.
And considering our head to head record against those schools you would likely call our peers, is terrible, its about time we became the "exception". We've been the norm too long.

Losing record vs top 200 RPI over Marlins tenure. Not acceptable.

As long as they make excuses, I will remind them how pitiful we are against decent teams.

Keep reminding them Charlie. The only thing that stands between us and total irrelevance is people like you. Fight the good fight.

And this thread needs to be resurrected during the basketball season.

If our coaches try to over-inflate our program again after losses this year (“we are the standard”/“teams celebrating like they won the super bowl because that’s what it’s like to beat the Ragin’ Cajuns”), I fully support it.

LR went from worst to first in one year, then first to worst the next. Both trips happened because they changed coaches.

But at the same time, one of the assistant coaches called it a "great season" after getting bounced out of the conference tournament to the #8 seeded team. So, I can see why a good number of fans feel the way they do about the program, which is apathetic.
That was probably not the best comment to make at the time. However your players had to be devastated at that time so they likely did not want to make things tougher for them. Still what is said publicly often is not how people really feel. With the passage of time they have likely come to realize things have to improve.
