I think Robe is giving Alex Fuselier a little too long of a leash. I think putting Bowman in left and Poirrier at DH is a good idea. I was thinking last night that Keefer may need to play 3rd, he's just an average defensive catcher anyway.
Last night's game was horrible. We didn't hit, we dropped that pop up, no one covered second on that double play and the ball went into center, the ball fell out of Long's glove on a routine grounder, we were picked off at first, we let a ball drop in right............at about the fifth inning I would have changed out the entire team.
I would have only changed those that are not playing with their heads in the game, but I surely would have pulled some people.
As far as today, we are getting NO clutch hits, but yet don't try anyone else as a spark. With only ONE run scored since the fifth inning of the SLU game, I would have pinch hit three or four guys in the 6th or 7th inning. What could they do... score less?
Keefer is not a good defensive catcher, he's an average defensive catcher, I'll give you above average. I've seen him lose too many balls to call him good. He does do a good job throwing down to 2nd though, I'll give him that. I like Fuselier but he hasn't done anything to be a top of the line up hitter that we view him as. I just think that right now, our team would be better with Bowman in left field, and Poirrier DHing. It's my opinion, I know Robe knows better than me, but I'm entitled to be irrational and radical.
Lay off Keef. He is one of the brighter spots on this team and he can hit and he catches very very well and his RBI is excellent if we can get anyone on base in front of him. The only change I would even consider would be Keef at first.
I think Trask was a major improvement yesterday at third.
I agree otherwise you could tweak the lineup.
