Any word on if Lafayette put on any muscle weight. He was rail thin last year

4 pure freshman, one redshirt freshman , and three JUCO transfers have not played a minute of D1 ball today. By the way, just because someone says we may better a year from now than we are today does not mean we cannot be successful in 2019-20.

Doudou Gueye and Tirus Smith are both very physical and pushing the rest of the big men. They won't be pushed around under the basket.

Jalen Johnson may not be Jakeenan Gant, but he can be a close second.

Cedric Russel and PJ Hardy will have to step up from behind the arc.

Kobe Julien looks good in practice only time will tell if he has confidence in his knee in a game. If Kobe becomes the Kobe that he was before he hurt his knee, then this could lead to a very interesting rotation.

Mylik Wilson does not know how good he is yet. This could be a very special player. Imagine Sidney Grider, but for 4 years. He is not there yet, but hopefully with time confidence settles in.

Chris Spenkuch is a 6' 7" forward from Miami, he has family in Baton Rouge, at least I think it is BR. I hope we can get a red-shirt out of him so he can put on some weight.
Thanks, that's a good overview of the roster.

I think we all know that, minus a major debacle, time is really not running out on Marlin. He's safe as long as nothing really major happens.

I don't necessarily agree with this. I think Marlin is a good coach and a good man, but he doesn't have record, legacy or support of a Coach Robe to survive mediocrity much longer, IMO.

I know Marlin is well-respected in coaching circles, BUT no one is banging down doors to hire him. If I am an AD at a G5 school and I am not having to fight to keep my head coaches from being poached away, I have to wonder if I have the right coach.

Money... that's the only thing that gets a coach fired at this level If season tickets and donations drop off then they will move

I agree with everything. It was sort of a tongue and cheek answer based on our past criticisms of coach Marlin and his lack of true success yet he continues to get extended and even given raises. I do maintain though that unless there is a debacle, he isn't going anywhere and that is straight from CajunsMike's mouth. This administration likes his stability too much to do anything even if we continue to finish 4th in conference and not make any NCAA tournaments. He's too much of a comfort blanket for the administration at this point.

And with all of the mediocrity, they haven't dropped significantly enough to change anything. Like I said, it would take a monumental underachievement this year or next to create any change.
