Thread: Cajuns Sign a Point Guard

With 4 juniors and 1 senior, the team is not young. That being said it may take the team a little bit to jell since the have not played together. Now with that being said I think this is going to be the most athletic and physical team that we have had in a long time.

Doudou Gueye and Tirus Smith are both very physical and pushing the rest of the big men. They won't be pushed around under the basket.

Jalen Johnson may not be Jakeenan Gant, but he can be a close second.

Cedric Russel and PJ Hardy will have to step up from behind the arc.

Kobe Julien looks good in practice only time will tell if he has confidence in his knee in a game. If Kobe becomes the Kobe that he was before he hurt his knee, then this could lead to a very interesting rotation.

Mylik Wilson does not know how good he is yet. This could be a very special player. Imagine Sidney Grider, but for 4 years. He is not there yet, but hopefully with time confidence settles in.

Chris Spenkuch is a 6' 7" forward from Miami, he has family in Baton Rouge, at least I think it is BR. I hope we can get a red-shirt out of him so he can put on some weight.

Agree with Lannister on this one, Gant was still there, and by far the best player on the court during any sun belt game.

and that's a legit excuse they need time to build chemistry but it's the Mardi gras, Altitude, they are jealous of our gym excuses ... those are what turn me away from the program

Not starting from scratch at all. Three would be Seniors left the team, partly because their roles would have probably been reduced because of the incoming JUCO talent and guys who had to sit out last year.

I was simply stating that if things play out the way they are set up, the 20-21 roster will be 90% the same as this years. I’m simply placing my expectations on the team with more experience and time together.

There's plenty of room to say that (a) this team may need time to build chemistry and (b) Marlin had better hope it happens, because time is running out for him.

The whole reason he has a team full of new faces is because he recruited way below average talent and had to cut bait.

Agreed, far too many reaches that missed. As for the returning players only Russel shows potential for All SBC. The rest with potential either are unproven here or very young.
