Dr. Maggard was on with Jay and Scott today. I imagine it is available on the KPEL website now. If you did not hear it, I encourage you to give it a listen. It gave me confidence the leadership is very understanding of our issues at this stage.

Just a couple of things I noticed he said in case you didn't listen to it. Dr. Maggard likes mid-week tv games, says it's the way Boise did it, but understands we need to win them to capitalize on the exposure. Also, he didn't realize that we don't have any Saturday games in October, but he does understand that can be a buzz kill and will try to not let that happen again.
Maximize your opportunities and don't repeat the mistakes you made. Playing during the week to a national audience allows you to showcase your brand. But you only improve your brand by winning. Your brand doesn't improve if you lose on national television with an empty stadium.
So, I listened and what I heard was that he was surprised to learn we only played two games in October (due to mid-week games and byes). He was very aware we didn't have a Saturday game in October. He stated that the conference schedules around our out of conference schedule, so one way to insure we have at least one Saturday home game in October is to schedule an OOC home game for October in the future. He is looking at that possibility for the future.
All for mid week games as long as we play one a year and play it on the road...who can forget the butt kicking the cajuns delt to Western KY jelly when Hud was coaching vs. Booby Patrino...it was epic!!!
Based on what he has done since getting to UL, I think we really have a great AD in Dr. Maggard. He has made a tremendous amount of progress in our athletic department in the short time he has been here. I also really like the fact that he has not been to prideful to try and correct the few missteps he may have made. He certainly can't please everyone all the time, but I am convinced he is attempting to do the things that will be necessary to move our program(s) forward.
I would like to see an interview or podcast with new RCAF Executive Director, Lee De Leon. He’s vision for increasing RCAF will be critical to our success.
