I'm always more skeptical of football given the many times we've been burned by high expectations, but after closely watching the first 3 games, I agree. It's fun to dream of 10 win seasons but this year, I think it's a legit possibly as opposed to a dream
When you can control the LOS, control the clock and run the ball...you are gonna win games.
But this week will indeed tell us much
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are on the rise once again in the latest ESPN College Football Power Index, which was released on Sunday.
I know everyone's opinion on this, but Massey is not yet out.
Anyway, the ESPN FPI has us at #52 with only the MW's Utah St (at 50), and Boise State (at 34) as the only "G-4" ahead of us.
Also, they predict us to end at 10-2.
If you don't listen to the AAC's assertion that THEY are in the "G-6," then, the AAC teams ahead of us are:
UCF- 20
Cinncy - 29
SMU - 36
Memphis - 42
Note, Tulane is 53.
The Athletic does a rank of all 130 teams weekly and we're now at #50. They have App State at #25
Our progression has been: 89, 100, 91, 86, 60, 50

Its sweet to be flirting with the top 50 as opposed to bottom 10. My how things have changed since Naps and Co arrived.
What happens if Napier is plucked from us in the next year or so? Are we seen as a desirable place, still meh, or coaching graveyard? That determines if the change created by Hud and Napier is sustainable. Thoughts?
Many apologies if this has already been discussed ad nauseam and I have just been living under a rock.
I don't see Napier going anywhere until after the 3030 season, and then, only if he beats a Power 5 team. Messrs. Bear or Boomer can better speak to this, but I think, generally speaking, coaches at this level need four or five consistent years of eight or nine wins, at least, and conference championships or a couple of Power 5 wins.
