Thread: 2019: ESPN Power Index

  1. UL Football 2019: ESPN Power Index

Appalachian St., at #67, is listed as the highest-rated school from the Sun Belt Conference.

  2. #2

UL Football 2019 ESPN FPI Ratings (Football Power Index )

Very interesting, the new ESPN Football Power Index is out and UL is the highest rated SBC team.

Here are the ratings for some teams of note.

    #4 LSU
    #24 Mississippi State
    #55 Tulane
    #68 Louisiana
    #72 App State
    #80 USM
    #84 Ohio
    #89 Arkansas State
    #92 ULM
    #94 Georgia Southern
    #95 Troy
    #98 La Tech
    #103 Coastal
    #109 Georgia State
    #115 Liberty
    #117 Texas State
    #123 South Alabama

Also, here is ESPN FPI winning percentage chances for the remaining schedule:

    @ Ohio 52.7%
    @ Georgia Southern 56.5%
    vs App State 60.7%
    @Arkansas State 53.8%
    vs Texas State 90.7%
    @ Coastal Carolina 67.9%
    @ South Alabama 88.7%
    vs Troy 76.7%
    vs ULM 74.2%

The ESPN FPI has us finishing the regular season at 11-1 based on the percentages to win the rest of the season.

    http://www.espn.com/college-football...=309&year=2019

Our projected Wins are 8.6, with a 2% chance of winning out and a 34.1% chance of winning the conference. I think the reason for this is because we have 3 games that they are suggesting are basically pick'em games with Ohio, Georgia Southern and Arkansas State as well as App being a really close game to pick.

If we can win in the road, this team will be very hard to beat. 2 road wins and we should pack Cajun Field.

No shot at you Dave, but the FPI winning percentage is one of the dumbest 'stats' that ESPN has ever engineered. It's about as phony as the ESPN QBR.

Having said that, we will most certainly not be over matched in any game remaining on this schedule.

Evidently "doing what your expected to do" regardless of the opponent, matters to the Power Rankings.

Somebody else believes we can get a W in every remaining game on our schedule.

With our running game and as long as Levi takes care of the football, the floor right now is 8 wins. If we can win the next 2 on the road, we might actually have a crowd for the App game.

There is something brewing. You can just sense it.

I hope you're right. Kinda wish the App. State game was on a Saturday.

Because it's a public perception influenced number. Almost a poll.

I'm always more skeptical of football given the many times we've been burned by high expectations, but after closely watching the first 3 games, I agree. It's fun to dream of 10 win seasons but this year, I think it's a legit possibly as opposed to a dream

When you can control the LOS, control the clock and run the ball...you are gonna win games.

But this week will indeed tell us much

  15. Default UL Football Moves Up Again In College Football Power Rankings

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are on the rise once again in the latest ESPN College Football Power Index, which was released on Sunday.
