....Tulane isn’t P5 and at the time they were really down——remember the S Dome crowds?

Name a G5 coach who has a better pedigree? Saban and Dabo, Napier comes from coaching royalty.

UNC is a low pressure, high upside P5 job. It’s a basketball school that can dominate the ACC in football. Especially with the Florida schools in shambles.

Just saying drinkwitz was at NC state and currently coaching in North Carolina and is coming in here undefeated with a win over UNC...I think he would be on their radar as well. I promise you they know who he is. Point being, Napier isn’t the only good young coaching looking to move to P5’s. Timing and connections has a lot to do with it.

Sorry I wasn't more clear. Yes, I know Tulane isn't P5 but they were the only other school to offer. No other schools including all P5 made him an offer. Possibly the lack of a signature win in those 4 years?

Supposedly he interviewed for the Houston job after sumlin left. Rumor was he didn’t interview very well. Made such a great impression we hired a special teams coordinator who had a punt blocked in the conference championship game against usm. Felt like an omen.

Who did not like an evening or even a minute with HUD around in his first three or 4 years?
If Brett Baer was not on Hud’s teams the outcome would have been much, much different. Cajuns would not have beat Troy at home (onside kick) or won first NO bowl game.

Baer not only won games by being the best kicker at onside kicks in history of program but also by his punting abilities.

You can't possibly believe that he isn't. All G5 coaches are looking to cash in at their first opportunity. With the way the coaching profession works, who can blame them?

I don’t think he is looking because he knows the opportunities he MAY desire in the future are not yet looking at him. I believe he aspires to win a National Championship some day, not just to be a coach of any P5. A bad P5 move could forever shut him out of that big aspiration. He has not shown enough yet to get that big one.

Hence my nervousness about UNC. But the silver lining to that is, we keep him for 3-5 more years. Which would do wonders for our program.

Hence they do less with more.
Any stat geek care to find those numbers?

UNC is probably not a place he can win a National Champiomship in football.

I’d say you’re wrong, but they haven’t done much. Huge national brand in a P5 league that has won 3 CFP championships. It can be done.

TAMU had shirts printed with "Keep Mac" when they both were in the same conference.
