The defense played good despite not being able to stop the run against that SEC line.

This was as good as a loss gets, many positives. This game got me excited to see what this team can do for the rest of the season.
Some are counting us out of 3 more games without even playing them. Go figure.

I never argued against it. Only pointing out silly logic by someone saying that if one of the 2 best QBs in school history played today, we would have won.

I don’t think it’s all on Levi though. There are several moments in the game that caused us to lose. I do think QB play is our biggest weakness based on that game. We looked improved in the secondary and OLine compared to last year, which was a critical improvement. I thought the DLine was the next greatest weakness. We couldn’t get enough pressure without blitzing and I believe their RB got 100 yards rushing on us in the 1st half and finished the game with over 200. He did not get that many touches either.

On another note, anyone hear reported attendance?

I hope Levi can be that guy and can improve throughout the season, I just don’t see it yet and I’m not sure we have anyone else who can do much better. Time will tell. I place my trust in Napier.
I don’t disagree with you there. We will see.

Going up against an SEC oline lost us the game not QB play. We lost it in the trenches. Lewis actually may have kept it closer with his feet. Turned some sure sacks into positive plays and kept drives going. Drives that would have been killed last year.

SEC Oline cost us the game? I’m pretty happy with the way our defense played against them, especially considering the situations they were put in and all of the turnovers. I see a lot of positives and am pretty happy with they way we played ... except at QB. Without a doubt, poor decision making, fumbles and int cost us the game. It is what it is

Lots of factors other than QB play contributed to the loss. Poor play calling a couple of times, critical officiating misses, getting burnt over the top early caused us to play back on defense opening up the middle . . . All of these can realistically improve going forward.

All in all, I saw plenty potential from this game, even at QB and believe we have a fighting chance to put up a W in every game remaining on our schedule. Will we do that, probably not. But with what I saw, we can't be counted out of any remaining games on our schedule.

That is a positive we did not see last year until much later in the season.

Their run game killed us and we couldnt get pressure on the qb. No real surprise
against that type of program. They controlled the t.o.p. early and ran at will. It’s really not a knock on our defense. I’m very happy with how we played as well. Just don’t see QB play as the main reason why we lost.

    Interesting stat -

We had 27 first downs today, Miss St. had 29

Last year they had 29 first downs and we had 13

We have a well coached team. I didn’t see many offsides, holds, miffed handoffs etc...thought we played a pretty clean game against a very tough opponent.

Each team had just 5 penalties.

You mean to tell us we got 27 first downs after 5 TO’s with that QB against an SEC defense and officiating crew?

Crazy huh, Imagine if Jake Delhomme was playing! We would have won by 30 easy.
