I disagree, Boise made itself into the best G5 program out there by 'usually' playing one P5 on the road and 10-2, 11-1 with at least 6 home games. This enabled them to get to some bowls where they would potentially get another shot at a G5 team at a neutral site.
Based upon building that success they have just completed or will complete home and homes with Oregon, Oregon St, Virginia, Washington State and Florida State. It didn't happen overnight, they had a plan, they had success, some bumps and then more success and are now the shining star, IMO.
Bottom line is there are no shortcuts. Invest, Win, Invest, Win, Invest ... rinse and repeat.
