They are gonna take care of this problem in the stadium renovation when they add a soccer canopy around all of Cajun Field.

It didn’t take many discussions with UL students for the new athletic department’s marketing group to recognize what was needed.

The idea of the student’s tailgating area for Ragin’ Cajuns home football games being at Bourgeois Park_— across Cajundome Boulevard from the Lamson Park/Bourgeois Hall parking lot_— just no longer made sense.
When did it EVER make sense????

Why should all students be assessed athletics fees? Not asking for a friend.

All students get charged $5-$10 for cheerleaders and the band so why not charge them the same for athletics.

Not ragging on you but makes as much sense as charging athletes a fee for the engineering dept or any other extra curricular activity not associated with athletics

Except that it happens at 90% of universities in this great country...

Being athletics is the front porch and every single alum benefits from a prominent athletics program...id say all stand to potentially benefit down the line from an investment in the form of semesterly fee...

I'm happy as a lark the student tailgating is coming back close to The Swamp.

Geaux the extra mile and return them to the ORIGINAL RED ZONE.

It’s a slow news day so I’ll play along. How?

Without athletics there would be no McNeese, no Nicholls.

Without athletics UL would be a Louisiana College or smaller, and LSU would be a school for the deaf.

Not saying it’s right or has ANY merit...but I’d guess an overwhelming amount of people base ones college attended on their first impressions of the school...and for a very large percentage, schools with higher profile athletic problems have a better first impression and stigma...if student A says I finished engineering at Colorado School of Mines and and student B says I finished engineering at Texas A&M....id bet a large sum of money that a yuuuge percentage of people (specifically non-engineers) will think higher of A&M grad...any others share this opinion?

But to add value to your diploma does it matter. I’d be willing to bet a Benjamin employers are fully aware of the relative merits of your diploma. I’d also bet another Benjamin a 4.0 is more impressive than a 2.7 regardless of the source if both are well regarded schools.
