I hope it’s encouraged for all coaches, faculty, and staff. The RCAF needs publicity and additional money to accomplish our mission.

You guys can blame the media if you want to, but he clearly said it was required for scholarship players.

He has dialed it back after realizing how this looks.

The man made a mistake and now he's doing a little damage control and moving on.

Some here should realize that even great men make mistakes sometimes.

I think most employees would have a problem if their boss suddenly required that they donate a specific amount to some organization in order to remain employed with the company.

Oh, and I know it's my opinion not yours.
They also get FULL cost of attendance. I LOVE the lesson Napier is teaching his players. A player that openly opposes this is not a player I'd want on my team.

Football coaches should coach football, period. They aren't responsible for teaching life lessons. They should stick to teaching proper tackling techniques, route patterns, throwing mechanics, etc.
How can you make that statement after the Tony Robichaux experience?

aren't "Responsible" must be your key word

I would say what Napier did should be applauded and those who hang on the opinion of a click bait reporter should reevaluate.

Napier should be applauded for making time to teach life lessons.

What r u smoking? He made a donation to Furman, putting his money where his mouth is as an example to his players. Do you have proof he hasn't donated to RCAF? Did u know that university employees get a match from the school with their contribution? You can't be serious with this accusation, you're as bad as Oiler...geeze us...

There are a group of Cajun fans that seriously want the program back in the Southland. They will be skeptics or critics to everything done to advance this program.

If we could ever get a university administration that was truly committed to the advancement of UL we could be dangerous. But we don’t, we must know our place.

The only "right" things football players should worry about doing are putting 100% effort into how they play and practice, obeying the law, and following the university's rules.
Of all the bad takes you've posted, this is your dive to the bottom...wow...

Definitely disagree with this. The whole point of sports is to teach responsibility, teamwork, honor, pride, excersise. So on and so on. It’s to help prepare youth for the grown up world. Sports have obviously become big business and there is a huge entertainment value for those who watch them. But for the players it’s all about learning and development.

Better a situation like this to gain national pub instead of an F Trump video..

Can't help but think if Saban came up with this idea, the sports media would be drooling all over it...

It has been pointed out many times that we have lost the younger generation and that our donor base is ever graying. This is an opportunity to begin bringing them back in at the ground level for nominal amounts. Only thing unfortunate was that it may have been rolled out in a PR snafu. Or maybe not, as it surely got lots of attention.

Huge swing and miss here! Sports are directly correlated to lessons in life. Who better to connect those dots than the one leading the team?

Especially so close in time to having prematurely put to rest a coach from Crowley, LA who was renowned nationally for the time and effort he tirelessly spent making MEN into every athlete he touched. Go figure.
