I also believe this will be an outstanding recruiting tool for us. This is in the same vein as Coach Robe molding men, husbands and fathers. If this becomes the motto of our athletic department molding you men and women into men, women, husbands, wives, fathers and mothers we are GOOD TO GEAUX !!
Don't forget significant others. It's very easy to step in it nowadays.

When I told 2 coworkers yesterday about this, huge LSU fans, they thought that it was a great idea for establishing a long term relationship with the university. This will be forgotten by Monday. Napier stated today that he mispoke the word,"mandatory". But the players want to do this and it looks like they will.

No, the worst thing was on day one, when Napier said it was required of scholarship players (his word, not mine). No matter how anyone spins it, it’s out there, and it smacks of pay to play. And everyone may have voted in favor of it, but like someone else said, how many of those yes votes were “ok, this is what Coach wants” votes? Finally, if you don’t think what people nationally think about this program, then what’s the point of trying to build a brand?

If we’re talking gratitude, that’s accomplished through community projects like what the players did helping people who were flooded a couple of years ago. Any time you put a dollar value on something and say it’s “required”, you invite this reaction. No matter how well intended this was, there’s no way the administration shouldn’t have seen it coming.

Read the article. First impression was it's a good idea. Still is. More folks may be inspired to support RCAF. You know "if a football player will donate $50, so will I". The twitter people can stick it. This story has legs in that every Cajuns game broadcast by ESPN or other national broadcast this year will mention it on the air. My belief is this will turn out positive. Coach Napier should stay the course.

It is positive, it shouldn’t turn out positive, it is. You are correct they should stay the course.

    I hope you’re right.

To be clear, I believe the department had only the best intentions.

Sometimes things just aren't perceived the way they are intended.

Not a great look. Just win and all is forgotten.

No way José. You're the bad look.

Bad optics, bad idea. Not the time. You can disagree, but it doesn’t really matter.

I think it's a great idea, simply put. Screw anyone and everything who speaks, criticizes or ostracizes us for implementing it. Excuse me for my bluntness. I'm getting old, but not as old as Boomer!
