Napier has already said he expects Levi to take 100% of the snaps. That will change late in the game if it's lopsided.
And who are you getting this information from? From everything reported on the two scrimmages, yes he had a couple of TO's, but his overall QB rating is light years ahead of any other candidate.
I 100% agree that Levi doesn't have the upside of probably any other QB on the roster, but he is the best option at QB right now. If he doesn't perform well, then I absolutely want someone else to get their shot, but that is true of every position on our team.
He's earned his opportunity on the field and in the locker room to be the starter. My only concern going forward with Levi is our ability to throw the ball down the field. From what I've seen and heard, he doesn't do that well. That is a concern for me because the better defenses in the conference played 7 in the box at times to stop our running game and we couldn't take advantage of those schemes last year. The same thing happened against Tulane in the bowl game.
I don't disagree. For the short time Napier has been coach, I think he has been pretty transparent. He likes the abilities of the other QBs, but they all seem to be making quite a few bad decisions. Agree with it or not, Napier values decision making. Now the question is how he will handle it if Levi makes great decisions, but doesn't execute at a high level, and another QB makes decent decisions, but executes better.
I like the kid but as I said, "intangibles" will only get you soo far. Levi is not Kyler Murray, he's got a "High School" QB arm and truth be told not the "great athlete" some people think he is. His best throws are those "floaters" down the field that seem to hang in the air forever (can you say pixs are coming). There's a big deference between being a "change of pace" QB and a starter, this team is far too talented for Lewis to be under center for the majority of the snaps. If Napier is going to be stubborn about it he could dig a hole that we won't be able to climb out of.
Has the staff done anything to make you doubt their decision making? Nunez was an average QB that competed well for us. The coaches maximized what he could do and it won us 7 games. The fact that Lewis has started games in the past and saw action regularly last year has put us in a better position to win this year. If the coaches believed that one of the other guys would be better, you'd see him playing.
Listening to reports and reading article about this team, the coaching staff is not going to force Levi to do something he can't do well. They've build a system for this offense to run and Levi simply needs to make the right decisions and execute. He's probably not going to win us games on his own, but he's certainly not going to be in a position to lose one on his own either.
